What is it for?

FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS
CHIP
It will be required to identify your pet with a chip (dogs, cats and ferrets).
CASTRATION
Castration in cats will be required if they are not breeding cats.
BREEDING AND SALE
The breeding it will only allowed for authorised breeders.
The sale of pets online or in physical stores will be forbidden.
SUPERVISION
No animal may be left unattended for more than 3 days in a row.
In the case of dogs, it cannot be more than 24 hours.
ZERO SACRIFICE
Euthanasia will be forbidden, except for incurable diseases or extreme suffering of the animal.
SECURITY
It will be required to have a civil liability insurance for dogs, even if they are not considered potentially dangerous breeds.
ANIMALS IN THE STREET
It is completely forbidden to abandon any animal.
Fines for mistreatment can reach up to 200.000€.
What can I do if I find an abandoned dog?
If you find an abandoned dog, try to keep it and call the local police (092) or the Akira Shelter.
CAT COLONIES
Cat colonies are protected and managed through the CER Method: Capture, Sterilization and Return.
It will be forbidden, under penalty: Killing, poisoning, abandoning, harming, annoying, stealing or feeding cats without authorization.
